Divine Nature

Wright and the American South

Join the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust on a journey filled with Art, Architecture and Nature. From our base in the charming small town of Bentonville, travel along winding roads in the Ozarks, which feature expansive vistas over rolling hills and valleys, dramatic rock outcroppings and cliffs, and lush, verdant forests filled with sparkling springs, waterfalls, lakes and caves. Enjoy a special architect-led, all-access tour of the 1956 Bachman-Wilson House, an elegant two-story Usonian house that was moved from New Jersey and re-built on the grounds of the world-class museum Crystal Bridges. Also see key works by Taliesin apprentice Euine “E.” Fay Jones, a native of Arkansas who was inspired by nature and developed his own style of organic architecture using local materials found in the Ozarks. Like Wright, Jones looked to Nature for inspiration and strove to express its divinity. He ignored architectural trends, concentrating instead on blurring the boundaries between the buildings and their surroundings. His efforts garnered a devoted following and an AIA Gold Medal in 1990.

Enjoy the waning days of summer on this three-night, four-day architecture and art immersion that includes architect-and curator-led tours, glorious scenery, and fresh and local Southern cuisine with a global twist.
